The IRS Office at Joplin is located in the busy downtown, only a few minutes’ of drive away from the Joplin International Airport. This building is full of federal and non-federal offices and businesses, few of them are – Federal Bureau of Investigation, US Bank Branch & ATM, Western Union and of course, IRS. Being a busy area there are plenty of notable locations around, few of them are Kozj, Spiva Park, Joplin Public Library, TAMKO Building Products, GSF Mortgage Corporation, Central Christian Center, Red Onion Café etc. The office building is an 8 story low rise structure.
Directions
East on 4th Street: Head west on E 4th Street toward SE Murphy Boulevard. Take a left turn onto S Main Street, immediately afterward the IRS Office building will be on the left.
West on 4th Street: Head east on W 4th Street toward Byers Avenue. Turn right onto S Main Street, the IRS Office will be on the right.
North on MO-43: Head south on N Main Street toward W 1st Street. Keep eyes on the right as the IRS Office will be on the right on this road.
South on MO-43: Head north on S Main Street toward W 7th Street/Route 66. Keep driving straight to continue on S Main Street. The IRS Office will be on the left.
Hours
Monday through Friday 8.30 am to 4.30 pm, with a one hour lunch break at noon from 12 pm to 1 pm. This office follows the federal holiday schedule.

IRS has a brick and mortar office at Joplin city, Missouri, yet a virtual assistance remote office has been provided for added support. Taxpayers can receive assistance provided by an IRS employee in a remote office using a computer monitor. The experience is almost similar to talking face to face with an employee in the office except in this case the employee is sitting in a different location. Upon appointment, a workstation at the IRS virtual assistance remote office will be assigned for the taxpayer where he/she gets to sit and talk to the employee appearing on screen.
